I’m Sara Gallagher, a BACP registered counsellor, and I offer a calm, safe and non-judgemental space where we can explore whatever is holding you back. At the heart of what we do is the therapeutic relationship, and I am here with warmth and empathy to support you in any way that you need, whether you need to explore patterns that are holding you back, feelings you can’t unpack, or you just need a space to release your emotions. I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework.
I work with adults in person from my peaceful practice in Winchester and online from anywhere in the UK.
Everything starts with a conversation, which is why I offer a free 30 min consultation over the phone so you can let me know what brings you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and get a feel for how I work. No obligation, just a quick chat to see if we want to work together.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing or heavy in ways that are hard to explain. You may be living with anxiety, struggling with patterns in relationships that keep repeating, or grief that won’t shift, no matter how much time has passed. You may be struggling with the lasting impact of trauma, whether recent or rooted deep in family or intergenerational history.
You might be navigating addiction, disordered eating, depression, or the effects of sexual or familial experiences that still shape how you see yourself today.
Whatever brings you to therapy, I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a daunting step. But it is natural to need support from time to time, and I am here to help you make sense of your feelings.
Counselling is not about fixing you, because you are not broken. It is about creating a space where you can be truly heard, without judgement or pressure to be anything other than who you are.
At the heart of counselling is the relationship between us: a safe connection where you can explore your feelings, untangle difficult thoughts, and begin to find your own way forward.
My approach is relational and collaborative, grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA) and Humanistic Counselling. TA helps us understand how early experiences and relationships shape our internal dialogue, emotional responses, coping behaviours and relationship dynamics. Many of the patterns we carry were once creative ways of surviving difficult experiences. In therapy, we explore those patterns without judgement, making space for new choices, a deeper understanding, and a more compassionate relationship with ourselves.
I am not here to tell you what to do or have all the answers. Instead, I am here to walk alongside you and to listen.
Sometimes we all need someone to witness what we are going through, to hold space for the hard things, and to gently reflect back what we might not be able to see clearly ourselves.
That is what counselling offers.
People come to counselling for a variety of reasons, and you don’t have to be in crisis to seek support. You may be struggling with anxiety, grief, relationship issues, or just the sense that something isn’t right.
Unhelpful patterns may be preventing you from leading the life you want for yourself, or there may be unresolved issues from your past that are having an impact in the here and now. You may be struggling with the effects of trauma or sexual trauma, or managing addictive behaviours, including eating disorders.
But you may also be just feeling stuck for some reason, not yourself and you can’t remember the last time you felt wholly you. Whatever brings you to counselling, your reasons are valid, and you don’t have to have it all figured out.
